Citadel Basketball Adds Nadi Beciri in Late Signing Period

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel head basketball coach Chuck Driesell announced that on Monday that Nadi Beciri officially signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the team next fall.

A four-year varsity letterman at Bergen Catholic High School in Hackensack, N.J., Beciri averaged 9.9 points and 6.9 rebounds over the course of his career. The 6-7, 225-pound multidimensional forward/center capped off his senior season with 462 points after hitting 57.1 percent (198-of-347) from the floor.

"I am very excited to have Nadi Beciri as a part of The Citadel family," said Driesell. "Nadi is a hardworking, physical post player who is solid around the basket, competes and is athletic. In addition to being a very good basketball player, he is a terrific young man and an outstanding student."

Averaging 18.5 points and 12 rebounds as a senior, Beciri earned first team honors for the Big North Conference and was selected to the All-North Jersey squad. He pulled down 287 total rebounds (131 offensive) for a team that finished 20-5 overall and was ranked in the top 25 in the state.

Beciri showed significant development in his game after scoring 251 points and hauling in 154 rebounds as a junior. Those numbers earned him all-county honorable mention accolades.

Beciri is the second player in the class of 2018 to sign an NLI with The Citadel, following Jake Wright who joined the program from Minnetonka, Minn., in November.
