CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Citadel's
Aaron Walker tallied five victories and earned fifth place in the 157-pound bracket as the Southern Scuffle came to a close on Friday evening.

Joining Walker with multiple victories at the event were
Ty Buckiso (141),
Matt Frisch (149),
Marshall Haas (197) and Joseph Bexley (HWT), who emerged with two victories each. Collectively they led a Bulldog unit that finished in 20th with 32 points.Â

Walker opened the two-day event with a victory by fall at the 3:22 mark over Stanford's Peter Galli. In the second round he completed a 12-3 major win over Malcolm Martin (Central Michigan).

From there he captured an 8-1 decision over 2014 NCAA All-American Mitch Minotti (Lehigh) in the third round, setting up a meeting with Penn State's Dylan Alton, a former NCAA All-American currently ranked eighth in the country by Intermat. Walker came away with a win by fall at the 6:24 mark against Alton, before falling 4-2 against eventual 157 champion James Green (Nebraska), a three-time All-American currently ranked second in the nation.

In the wrestleback bracket, Walker went head-to-head with Tommy Gantt (Unattached-NC State), who captured the 5-2 victory. Walker completed his seven-match tournament against Russell Parsons of Army (No. 12, Intermat) where he earned fifth place with a 20-5 technical fall win.

As for Buckiso, his victories in the 141-pound bracket included a win against Dante Rodriguez (Iowa State) and a 5-2 decision over Army's Logan Everett.

Frisch opened the Southern Scuffle with a 13-0 major victory against Nathan Valentine (Kent State) before advancing to the third round with a 5-4 decision against George Mason's Blake Roulo.

Haas' showing in the 197-pound classification included a 10-1 major victory over Spencer Neff (Duke). The junior then earned a 6-3 decision over Lehigh's John Bolich, before a pair of setbacks in the wrestlebacks ended his day.

Bexley (HWT) collected a pair of wins in the consolation bracket, knocking off North Carolina's Frank Abbondanza 5-3 in sudden victory before defeating Penn State's Nick Ruggear by a 5-3 decision.

The Citadel returns to action on Jan. 9-10 when the Bulldogs head to Hampton, Va., to participate in the 2015 Virginia Duals. That appearance will be followed by a home dual against Gardner-Webb on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
