CHARLESTON, S.C. – Col. Jake Burrows, a member of The Citadel Athletics Hall of Fame, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 94.
In three years of competition, Col. Burrows earned eight total letters including three in football, three in basketball and two in track and field. During his three years on the basketball team, he averaged 11.5 points per game and accounted for 31 percent of the team's total points. While he was on the basketball team, the Bulldogs defeated South Carolina and Furman six straight games each and he was a two-time All-Southern Conference selection.

Col. Burrows remains the lone member of The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame who was both Regimental Commander and First Honor Graduate of his class. He was inducted into The Citadel Athletics Hall of Fame in 1980, and his number 3 jersey is honored with a banner inside McAlister Field House.
