STATESBORO, Ga. – The No. 23 Citadel mixed rifle team wrapped up the 2019 Southern Conference Rifle Championships hosted by Georgia Southern with a third-place showing behind 20
th-ranked UAB and No. 18 North Georgia.
The Citadel ended the two-day event with an aggregate score of 4556, while the Blazers paced the field with a 4582. The Nighthawks wrapped up the tournament second with an aggregate score of 4571.

th-ranked Georgia Southern ended the two-day tournament in fourth (4481), VMI's 25
th-ranked mixed team finished fifth (4478), No. 26 Wofford posted the sixth-best two-day score (4433), VMI's 27
th-ranked women's team finished seventh (4429) and the No. 30 Citadel women finished eighth (4036).
The Bulldogs' mixed team finished Sunday's air rifle competition fourth with a score of 2307, while Georgia Southern claimed top honors in the gun (2325) ahead of UAB (second, 2321) and North Georgia (third, 2317).
Following the conclusion of competition, freshmanÂ
Izzie Blystone, who earned second-team All-SoCon honors in smallbore, was named the SoCon Co-Freshman of the Year along with UAB'sÂ
Michael Dietz. It is the second straight year The Citadel has had a cadet-athlete earn the honor afterÂ
Max Brabston was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year last season.
Brabston earned All-SoCon first-team honors in the gun for the second straight season, and seniorÂ
Allison Auten picked up second-team All-SoCon honors in air rifle.
On Sunday, Blystone finished fourth in the qualifying round for air rifle, earning a spot in the finals. She was one of just four competitors to advance to the finals in both guns, joining Georgia Southern'sÂ
Courtney Weekley, North Georgia'sÂ
Ricky Medina and UAB's Dietz. Blystone finished the air rifle finals in eighth place, while Southern'sÂ
Rosemary Kramer claimed the individual crown.
Blystone ended the weekend with an 1154 aggregate score, a mark that is tied for her third-best performance of the season. The Aiken, South Carolina native wrapped up the competition second overall, just three points behind North Georgia's Medina in first.
Brabston ended Sunday's air rifle competition ninth with a 579, just missing out on a finals appearance of his own. The Fairfax, Virginia native finished the weekend with an aggregate score of 1150, the fifth-best score of the competition.

Alexander McAlear and freshmanÂ
Emily Perkins on Sunday. Auten, competing for the final time as a Bulldog, finished air rifle with a 573, the 14
th-best score of the afternoon. McAlear posted an air rifle score of 572 and Perkins finished her afternoon with a 564.
The Citadel's women's team included
Alisha Rabaca,
Megan Waters,
Tierra Price and
Abby Koger. Rabaca fired a 524 and Waters posted a 520. Price ended Sunday with a 513 and Koger posted a 582.
