Citadel Golf Wraps Up 2019 Campaign

Head coach Lori Bonacci's group carded a 1013 over the three rounds. The Citadel got off to a hot start in the tournament on a high note with its best 18 holes of the tournament as a team, firing a 333 in the first round.
Freshman, Mackenzie Battle finished with a team-best score of 79 on the first 18. Battle shot a three-round 247 to post a team-high score at the SoCon Championship.
Junior Andrea Hoos also finished strong for the Bulldogs, posting a personal-best score of 82 in the final round. Hoos bested her previous day score by 7 strokes and recorded three birdies on the first day of competition.
Sophomore Ashlee Richardson finished strong for The Citadel, recording a third-round score of 81 after parring six consecutive holes to end the day with 11 total.
Over the course of the three-day tournament, Marina Grimal recorded a trio of birdies to round er total score of 266 while Sarah Smith finished just behind with a score of 267. Smith recorded a pair of birdies herself to finish in 45th place.
Furman claimed its fifth-straight SoCon Women's Golf Championship, wrapping up a 27-over par team score of 891 to cruise to the 14-stroke victory over the second-place tie between ETSU and Chattanooga at 905. The Paladins have claimed 18 of the 26 all-time SoCon championships, earning the league's automatic bid to an NCAA regional which will be held May 6-8. Due to a tie-breaker, ETSU was declared the tournament runner-up with Chattanooga third. Mercer (911) finished fourth with UNCG placing fifth with a three-day score of 927.Samford (929) finished sixth with Wofford (947), WCU (997) and The Citadel (1,013) rounding out the nine-team tournament field.
Chattanooga's Monica San Juan claimed individual medalist honors by four strokes over a two-way tie between Hee Ying Loy of ETSU and Furman's Haylee Harford. San Juan carded a 1-under par 215 over the three-day tournament with Loy and Harford shooting matching 3-over par scores of 219.
The tournament concludes the 2018-19 season for The Citadel with one senior – Marina Grimal– playing in her final event for the Bulldogs.
