BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Citadel got off to a strong start with a victory in the opening match before falling, 42-3, to No. 21 Campbell Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
- The Bulldogs opened the match with an impressive victory at 157 by Douglas Gudenburr. After being taken down in the opening period, Gudenburr managed to escape right before the horn.
- He controlled the second period from on top as he did not allow his opponent off the mat.
- A late escape from Matt Dallara tied the match, but Gudenburr came away with the 5-4 victory on riding time.
- Dazjon Casto had a hard-fought match against No. 16 Quentin Perez at 165. Casto was down four points in the first period, but was able to battle back late in the match.
- Trailing by three late, Casto got a takedown, but was unable to add any points in falling 7-6.
