RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 21
st-ranked Citadel mixed rifle team and the 27
th-ranked women's team hosted 22
nd-ranked VMI and the No. 26 VMI women's team Saturday at the Inouye Marksmanship Center Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs' mixed team posted an aggregate score of 4509 to take top honors and reclaim the team's range flag, as well as VMI's range flag. The Citadel has won five of the last six meetings and has thus held on to both range flags. For most of the last three seasons.
VMI's mixed team posted a score of 4476 with the VMI women's team finishing third with an aggregate score of 4363. The Citadel women wrapped up the day with an aggregate score of 4200.
Freshman
Cameron Bates and junior
Max Brabston finished 1-2 in the overall scores. Bates finished with an aggregate score of 1135, while Brabston posted an aggregate score of 1132.
Senior
Alexander McAlear finished fourth overall with an 1124 and sophomore
Emily Perkins recorded an 1118 to finish fifth. Freshman
Jack Wittman wrapped up his day 10
th with a 1078.
Hunter Jacob was the highest finishing shooter from VMI with a third-place 1129.
THREE-POSITION SMALLBORE
- Bates led the way in three-position smallbore for the Bulldogs with a second-place 560.
- McAlear finished third with a 559.
- Brabston ended the discipline fifth with a 553.
- Perkins recorded a 551, finishing sixth in the gun.
- Wittman rounded out the Bulldogs' mixed team's scoring five with a ninth-place 546.
- For the Bulldog women, Victoria Krone led the way with a 15th-place 525.
- Tierra Price ended smallbore with a 516.
- Taylor Swiger and Demi Perez wrapped up the women's team's scoring with a 490 and a 488.
AIR RIFLE
- In air rifle, Brabston and Bates finished 1-2 in reverse order from their aggregate scores. Brabston posted a 579 to sit atop the rankings, while Bates finished with a 575.
- Perkins finished fifth with a 567 in air rifle.
- McAlear recorded a sixth-place 656.
- Brandon Oerman rounded out the Bulldogs' scoring five in air rifle, posting a 10th-place 561.
- On the women's side, Perez finished 14th with a 551.
- Krone finished 15th with a 550.
- Price posted an 18th-place 544.
- Sophomore Megan Waters finished 20th with a 536 in her first action as a Bulldog.
- Swiger finished 22nd with a 526.
- Freshman Kylie Green wrapped up things for the women's side with a 478.
COMING UP
The Bulldogs' next two matches will be on the road. Next week, the 'Dogs travel to Dahlonega, Georgia to face the 18
th-ranked Nighthawks of North Georgia on Saturday, Feb. 1. The following week, The Citadel will travel to Spartanburg to take on Wofford on Saturday, Feb. 8.
