CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel mixed rifle team dropped its first match of the season as the Bulldogs fell, 4621-4557, to Jacksonville State Friday morning at the Inouye Marksmanship Center.
 
Charlotte Welsh and Max Brabston finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Welsh shot an 1149, while Brabston finished with an aggregate score of 1148. Cameron Bates finished ninth with a score of 1138.
 
THREE-POSITION SMALLBORE

• The Bulldogs top three shooters remained tightly grouped throughout all three positions.
• In the end, it was Welsh and Brabston who took home the top scores, each shooting 566.
• Bates made it a three-way chase for the top score as he finished with a 565.
• Jack Wittman was one spot behind Bates with a 555.

 
AIR RIFLE

• Welsh and Brabston continued their tight competition into air rifle.
• Welsh finished with a 583, just edging out Brabston's 582.
• Bates finished third for the Bulldogs with a score of 573.
• Brandon Oerman placed 11^th with a 567.

 
UP NEXT
The Bulldog women's team will take on Jacksonville State Sunday morning at the Inouye Marksmanship Center.
