STATESBORO, Ga. – The 22
nd-ranked Citadel mixed rifle team and the 28
th-ranked women's team closed out the 2020 Southern Conference Rifle Championships hosted by Georgia Southern Sunday. The Bulldogs' mixed team moved up to fourth place, while the women's team finished eighth.
AIR RIFLE RUNDOWN
- Nineteenth-ranked UAB finished second in the air rifle portion of the weekend with a 2286 to claim its second-straight SoCon Championship. The Blazers posted a two-day score of 4539.
- No. 20 North Georgia claimed the air rifle title with a 2296 to finish second in the meet with an aggregate score of 4535.
- The 23rd-ranked VMI mixed team finished third overall, and third in the air rifle portion, with an aggregate score of 4490.
- The Bulldogs' mixed team finished with a fourth-place 2273 in air, and moved up to fourth overall for the weekend with a 4478 aggregate score. The Bulldog women finished Sunday with a 2185 to record a 4275 weekend aggregate score.
- Wofford's Dan Wesson took top honors in air rifle, while Georgia Southern's Ashley Judson was named the SoCon Air Rifle Athlete of the Year. UAB's Amy Kohan was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year.
- Senior Alexander McAlear earned second-team All-SoCon honors with a 10th-place finish in the air rifle finals after posting a 10th-place 571 in the qualifying round.
- Freshman Cameron Bates just missed out on qualifying for his second finals round of the weekend as he posted a 570 to finish 11th. Sophomore Emily Perkins finished 12th, also just missing out on the cut line with a similar 570.
- Junior Max Brabston recorded a top-20 finish with a 562, wrapping up his weekend with a 20th-place finish.
- Junior Brandon Oerman wrapped up the mixed team's scoring five with a 549.
- Senior Tierra Price ended her collegiate career by leading The Citadel women with a 561, finishing 22nd.
- Senior Victoria Krone also capped her career, finishing second on the squad with a 544.
- Freshmen Demi Perez and Taylor Swiger finished with a 541 and 539, while sophomore Megan Waters wrapped up her Sunday with a 532.
