FULL RESULTS

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel mixed and women's rifle teams opened the 2020-21 season Saturday morning with a tri-match against Georgia Southern at the Inouye Marksmanship Center.

The Bulldogs' mixed squad claimed top honors on the day with an aggregate score of 4537, while the Eagles finished second with a 4512. The Bulldog women finished the single-relay match with an aggregate score of 4261.

Senior Max Brabston claimed the top spot in three-position smallbore with a 571, and used a 574 in air rifle to post the day's top aggregate score of 1145.

Sophomore Cameron Bates finished third overall with an 1135, while junior Emily Perkins and freshman Charlotte Welsh rounded out the top five with scores of 1131 and 1126.

Freshman Riley Neiders was the top finisher for the women's team, posting a score of 1084 in her collegiate debut.

THREE-POSITION SMALLBORE

• The day started off with three-position smallbore, where the Bulldogs excelled with an aggregate score of 2232, ahead of Georgia Southern's 2217 and the Bulldog women's2055.
• Brabston and Perkins were tied through kneeling and prone, but Brabston was able to pull away in standing to claim the top spot in the gun with a 571.
• Bates surged up into third with a 561, while Perkins finished fourth with a 553.
• Welsh ended her first collegiate smallbore competition eight with a 547, while junior Jack Wittman rounded out the Bulldogs' scoring five with a 12^th-place 534.
• Sophomore Taylor Swiger led The Citadel women's squad with a 13^th-place 523 in the gun, with fellow sophomore Demi Perez finishing 14^th with a 520.
• Neiders finished third of the scoring four for the women with a 518, while sophomore Emma McCorkle placed 15^th in smallbore with a 494.

AIR RIFLE

• Welsh took advantage of her previous air rifle experience, and burst onto the collegiate scene with a 579, matching Georgia Southern's Ashley Judson, but took top honors on a tie breaker.
• Perkins finished second on the mixed team, third overall with a 578, while Brabston finished fourth with a 574, just beating out Bates, who finished sixth in air with a similar 574.
• Senior Brandon Oerman finished 12^th in air rifle with a 561, rounding out the counters for the Bulldogs.
• Neiders claimed a top-10 finish in the gun with a 566 to lead the women's team, while McCorkle finished 13^th with a 558.
• Perez finished 14^th with a 555 in air with Swiger wrapping up her day with a 527.

COMING UP
The Bulldogs and Eagles will renew acquaintances next weekend with another match on Saturday, Oct. 3. The 'Dogs will then travel to VMI on Saturday, Oct. 10.
