GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel's Paige Gilstrap recorded three birdies in the second round to lead the Bulldogs on the opening day of the Pirate Collegiate Classic at the Greenville Country Club.

How it Happened

Paige Gilstrap opened the tournament by shooting two-over par on the opening nine. She closed out the front nine with seven-straight pars. She would go on to shoot an opening-round 79.
Gilstrap closed out the front nine in the second round with a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole. She would later add a birdie on the par-5 13^th and the par-4 16^th.
The three birdies in the second mark a career-best for Gilstrap.
Freshman Kenzie McCallum birdied the par-3 third hole on her way to shoot the second-best opening round for the Bulldogs.
Naomi Huang was able to improve her play as the day went on as he improved by four strokes in the second round.
Lauren Sommerfeld also improved in the second round, shooting five shot better on the second 18.
