LAS VEGAS – The Citadel's
Selwyn Porter and
Ben Haubert each picked up a pair of victories at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Friday.
How it Happened
- Selwyn Porter picked up the first victory on the day as he recorded a second-period fall over Nolan Miller-Johnston of California Baptist.
- The match was tight into the third period with Porter starting on bottom. Porter was able to slip out and quickly put Miller-Johnston on his back for the fall.
- Ben Haubert picked up a victory in his second match of the day as he won a 4-3 decision over Joey Arnold of Edinboro.
- The two entered the third-period tied before Haubert was able to get an escape early in the period. He nearly had a takedown later in the period, then fought off a trio of attempts in the final seconds to secure the win.
- Porter came back in his first consolation match and used an explosive move to come away with a second-period fall over Graham Gambrall of Oregon State.
- After a scoreless first period, Porter started the second period on top and quickly moved to a single leg. He used that to cradle his opponent on his back and secure the fall just 12 seconds into the period.
- Haubert picked up his second-straight win in the consolation bracket with a 6-3 decision over Ross McFarland of Hofstra.
- Haubert wasted little time in getting on the board with a takedown just 26 seconds into the match.
- After an escape early in the second round tied the match 2-2, Haubert shot in on a single leg and quickly secured a takedown. Haubert added an escape point early in the third, then was awarded a point on a head butt in the final seconds.
