CORALVILLE, Iowa – The Citadel had four wrestlers place at the inaugural Soldier Salute tournament at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa.
How it Happened
- Ben Haubert finished in eighth place at 174 pounds. He suffered a 10-5 decision loss to Graham Calhoun in his first match of the day.
- Haubert closed out his tournament by dropping an 8-4 decision to Kyle Mosher (Columbia) in the seventh-place match. Haubert had defeated Mosher, 5-4, in their first match of the tournament.
- Micah DiCarlo battled his way to a seventh place finish at 184 pounds.
- He dropped a decision in his first match of the day, but came back to defeat Aidan McCain, 7-3, in the seventh-place match.
- Blair Orr finished the event in sixth place at 125 pounds.
- Orr started the day with a 4-3 decision over Jack Parker (Bellarmine)
- After suffering a decision setback in his next match, Orr fell in a tough match, 2-1, to Ethan Berginic of Army. The two wrestlers met in the second round with Orr falling 2-0.
- John Chesser closed out his tournament with a sixth-place finish at 285 pounds.
- Chesser opened the day with a victory over Austin Kohlhofer (Army) due to an injury in the third period.
- Chesser would suffer a 7-4 setback to Luke Rasmussen (South Dakota State) before closing out with a 9-8 loss to Bradley Hill in the fifth-place match.
