MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Citadel women's golf team began their spring season at the RiverTowne Invitational at the RiverTowne Country Club on Monday.
The Bulldogs opened with a 337 in the first round, before the second round was suspended due to darkness.

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs began on the back nine in the shotgun format.
- Lauren Sommerfeld nearly had her first birdie of the day as she stuck her tee shot on the 17th hole within three feet. She had to settle for par as the putt rimmed out.
- Sommerfeld was able to secure birdies on the fourth and eighth holes during the opening round.
- Paige Gilstrap also got a par on the 17th hole, but hers was a little more dramatic. After coming up short off the tee, Gilstrap pitched up and over the wall to within two feet. She was able to sink the putt.
- Gilstrap would birdie the par-4 sixth to lead the team after the opening round.
- Mirabella Calabrase got things going on the front nine as she registered birdies on the second and ninth holes in the opening round.
