SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team earned a win on the road Saturday with a 4594-4309 victory at Wofford, sweeping the smallbore and air rifle events. The Bulldogs posted their second win of the seaosn in as many tries over Wofford this season, with another matchup between the two set for Saturday, Feb. 19.
James Hart led the competition with a 1,165 aggregate total, winning the air rifle with 587 points and second in smallbore with 578 points.
Charlotte Welsh was right behind Hart with a 1,163 aggregate, taking tops in the smallbore at 579 and a close third in air rifle at 584. The women's team posted 4,154 points, with
Demi Perez leading the squad with 1,105 points.
Smallbore Results
- The Bulldogs won the competition with 2,277 points, ahead of Wofford's 2,109.
- The women's team finished with a score of 2,031.
- The Citadel took the top four spots, led by Charlotte Welsh's 579 and James Hart right behind with 578.
- Jack Wittman posted a 565 for third and Emily Perkins fourth at 555.
- Demi Perez led the women with 537 for seventh place.
- Daniel Shapiro garnered 536 to grab eighth place.
Air Rifle Results
- The Citadel made it a sweep with 2,317 points to Wofford's 2,200.
- The women's team posted a score of 2,123.
- Hart won the competition with a 587 score, while Emily Perkins was close behind in second with 585 points and Welsh third with 584.
- Demi Perez posted the top score for the women with 568.
- Jack Wittman received sixth-place billing with 561 points.
- Deanna Douglas earned the women another top-ten finish, placing ninth with a 534 score.
