MORGANTON, N.C. – The Citadel's Paige Gilstrap shot an opening-round 79 on her way to leading the Bulldogs through the first two rounds of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate Monday at the Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.

As a team, the Bulldogs shot an opening-round 336 and followed it up with a second round 348 to sit in 12^th place.

How it Happened

Paige Gilstrap led the way with an opening round 79.
Gilstrap started her day on the 12^th hole and parred three of the first four holes.
She overcame on a bogey on the 17^th hole with a birdie on the par-4 18^th hole.
On the front nine, Gilstrap shot par on four of the first five holes and finished the outward nine with six pars, shooting three-over par.
Gilstrap came back in her second round of the day and shot an 85. She finished her round with three-straight pars.
Megan Ikeda shot an opening-round 84, before coming back in the afternoon to shoot an 81.
Ikeda was even through her first four holes of the morning as she bounced back from a bogey to birdie the par-3 13^th hole.
She would add her second birdie of the day on the par-3 ninth, her 17^th hole of the round.
In the second round, Ikeda would birdie the par-5 12^th hole before recording her second birdie of the day on the par-3 ninth hole.
Naomi Huang began her day with an opening-round 82. She ended her round with five-straight pars, and pars on six of the final seven holes.
Huang's second round saw her record her first birdie of the day on the par-5 third hole.
Lauren Sommerfeld got off to a tough start on her first few holes, but was able to bounce back with a birdie on the par-4 first hole.
Maggie Parmer had the biggest improvement from the morning to the afternoon round, improving her score by eight strokes.
