CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tabbed Matthew Barbosa as the new Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance, per an official release Monday.

"I am thrilled to take over the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at The Citadel," Barbosa said. "I am looking forward to continuing my journey in college athletics and cultivating new relationships as I call Charlerston and The Citadel my new home."
 
Prior to joining the Bulldogs' administrative staff, Barbosa worked for Oakland University as a compliance officer for two years, navigating NCAA guidelines to ensure assigned OU programs remained compliant for competition. Before handling full-time duties in suburbs of Detroit, he served as a graduate assistant at Southern Methodist University in the American Athletic Conference where he monitored student-athlete forms, unofficial visits and communication logs.

Between his undergraduate days at Temple and SMU, Barbosa acted as a compliance intern with the Cincinnati, evaluating high school transcripts of prospective student-athletes and interpreting NCAA rules to the coaching staff and student-athletes.

Barbosa received a Bachelor of Science in Sport & Recreation Management from Temple in 2020 as well as his Master of Science in Sport Management from SMU in 2022.
