INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Citadel's James Hart has qualified to represent the Bulldogs at the 2024 NCAA Rifle Championships as an individual qualifier, as announced by the NCAA on Monday afternoon.
 
The 2024 NCAA rifle championships will be held March 8-9 in WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, West Virginia.
 
A maximum of 48 competitors will be selected to attend the championships. The top eight or fewer teams in the combined smallbore and air rifle will qualify for the championships. Along with the Feb. 19 selections, the committee will also select and identify a total of four alternates (two in each discipline).
 
Individual and team competitions in smallbore three-position (60 shots) will be held Friday, March 8, and individual and team competitions in air rifle (60 shots) will be held Saturday, March 9.
 
James Hart led the Bulldogs in almost every rifle match during the 2023-24 season. His best match came on Feb. 18 when the Bulldogs hosted Wofford. Hart recorded a total score of 1181. He tallied 589 in the smallbore, the qualifying score he needed for the NCAA Championships, and 592 in the air rifle results.
 
He averaged 583.5 in the smallbore during the season.

Hart and the Bulldogs will compete again for the 2024 Southern Conference Rifle Championships, hosted by The Citadel inside Inouye Marksmanship Center.
