CHARLESTON, S.C. – Following a successful spring semester replete with numerous athletic achievements -- underscored by a program record 14 wins for wrestling -- across a variety of sports, The Citadel Athletics proudly celebrates another strong term in the classroom as well, finishing with a 3.354 overall GPA as a department along with a slew of individual achievements, including: 47 cadet-athletes boasting 4.0s, 92 earning Gold Stars (3.7+) and 98 scoring recognition on the Dean's List (3.2+).
From a sport-specific perspective, every program at The Citadel save one concluded the six-month period with a team GPA 3.0 or better. Women's Golf paced the department with a 3.734 mark while Men's Tennis (3.724), Women's Cross Country (3.577), Women's Soccer (3.530) and Mixed Rifle (3.504) exceeded the 3.5 plateau; meanwhile, Women's Track & Field (3.423), Volleyball (3.488) and Baseball (3.431) held out above the 3.4 mark.
Individually, 218 of the department's 301 cadet-athletes -- 72.4 percent -- posted GPAs of 3.0 or better with 47 notably notching perfect 4.0s for the term. Of those 47, 18 are seniors who graduated earlier this month or are on track to complete their degrees with the ace achievement later this summer. Overall, the Bulldogs graduated a total 58 cadet-athletes in December, including 51 undergraduate and seven graduate.
