CONWAY, S.C. – Buoyed by a pair of Top 10 finishes from Owen Sharnas and Emily Pierontoni, The Citadel cross country program managed to score a second-place finish on the men's side along with third overall on the women's at the Chanticleer Open hosted by Coastal Carolina, posting a final score of 57 for the former and 67 on the latter Friday evening at the Hackler Course in Conway, S.C.

WOMEN'S 5k

Pierontoni led the way for the Bulldogs off a 19:09.3 mark en route to fourth individually
Abby Thiessen followed as the No. 2 finisher for The Citadel at 16th, recording a new PR via a 20:52.3 time
Julia Williamson (19th), Ayanna Gaedtke (21st) and Maggie Parker (22nd) rounded out the scoring runners for the Bulldogs

MEN'S 8k

Sharnas proved the top runner for The Citadel yet again on the men's side, slotting in at 8th off a 26:25.7 time
Carson Diggs (10th), Wyatt Carey (13th) and Bobby Gibson (14th) held up the Bulldogs' center with Tyler Caron (17th) cleaning up at anchor

With the month of September officially wrapped up, the Bulldogs take a well-deserved hiatus before starting prep for their next meet at Newberry on Saturday, Oct. 5.
