CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head cross country coach Marie Domin and Director of XC/Track & Field Jody Huddleston have announced the 2025 schedule for The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams.
The Bulldogs open the season on August 29 at the CSU Buccaneer Open in Ladson, S.C., where the men will compete in a 6K and the women in a 5K. Following an off week, The Citadel returns to action at the Queen City Invitational in Charlotte, N.C., on September 12.
After a two-week break, the Bulldogs will compete in the Fire Tower Project in Boone, N.C., on October 3. The team will then participate in back-to-back invitationals: the USCB Sand Shark Invitational in Hardeeville, S.C., on October 11, and the USC Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., on October 18.
The season concludes with the Southern Conference Championships on November 1.
"We are excited to build relationships with our new talented roster and strengthen the returners. My goals tend to be the same each year: take an introspective approach to training and racing. That applies to both the team and me. Learn something mentally and physically about ourselves and then use that knowledge to grow. Keep developing a cohesive team," said head coach Marie Domin. "Cross country requires a team to have a collective energy with teammates who inspire, hold each other accountable, laugh at how much this hurts, and take pride in this meaningful struggle. These relationships and self-reflection will make a difference in practice and at the finish line. I always stand by my Juma Ikangaa quote 'The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare.' Preparation has already started with a new, intense schedule, season plan, and summer training."
