CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Citadel Athletics welcomes the addition of Gearoid Dunbar on Monday morning as the department's new Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations.

Previously, Dunbar worked as the Director of Rugby at the University of Mary Washington for three seasons, overseeing operations of both the men's and women's rugby programs.

Prior to his stint with the Eagles, he served as Head Rugby Coach and Club Sports Coordinator at New Mexico Tech University for three years. In his time at New Mexico Tech, he has developed and coached the men's and women's rugby teams, managed and advised all university club sport teams, recruited and scouted potential players, oversaw all budgeting and finances for all sport teams and served as project manager for physical recreation facilities refurbishment.

Earlier in his career, Dunbar acted as Youth Development Officer, Women's Backs Coach and Head Men's Coach in Carlow, Ireland, for Leinster Rugby Club, I.T. Carlow and Carlow Rugby Club. He also logged extensive playing experience on the pitch, including a successful run with the Institute of Technology in Carlow, Ireland, and the Carlow Rugby Club.
