
Bulldogs Register Competitive Outing at Georgia Tech XC Invitational

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — The Citadel men's cross country team secured 10th out of 13 teams in the 8k while the women placed 13th within a field of 16 for the 6k at the Georgia Tech XC Invitational on Friday morning at Foxhall Sporting Club.

Ryder Harbaugh set the tone for the Bulldogs, notching 42nd individually behind a 26:26.21 mark. Jack Wallace slotted in at 56th (26:52.96) while Wyatt Carey (27:23.62) and Eian Holmes (27:30.72) came in within seven seconds of each other at 62nd and 63rd, respectively. Blake Hubik rounded out the scoring runners for The Citadel at 65th off a 27:58.90 time.

On the women's side, Abigail Thiessen paced the squad at 64th behind a 24:48.90 mark. Aline Ludemann crossed the finish line at 70th via her 25:20.39 mark while Brylee Deering (25:44.04) and Catherine Thomas (25:50.75) arrived just over five seconds apart for 75th and 76th, respectively. Sicily Thompson closed out the scoring runners for the Bulldogs at 77th, clocking a 26:08.34 time for the day.
Notably, both Thiessen and Ludemann managed to vault themselves into the school record book, as the former's time (24:48.90) now ranks 21st all-time in the women's 6k while the latter's mark (25:20.39) slots in at 24th.
"We took advantage of a great course and beautiful weather today," head coach Kris Kut said. "We saw some of the best competitors we'll face all season, and everyone stepped up. Lots of PRs and, more importantly, we're loving the progressions this team continues to demonstrate. Proud of the way they're competing, improving, and pushing each other forward."

Next up, The Citadel receives a week-long break before trekking north to Spartanburg, S.C., for the Upstate Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17.
