Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Volleyball team fell to Appalachian State in five sets at McAlister Field House on Saturday, 3-2. The Citadel tried to beat Appalachian State for the second time in two years, but could not duplicate their feat from a year ago as they fell in five hard fought sets.
The Citadel (3-13, 0-1) had solid performances from juniors Tatum Jestila, who tallied her fourth double-double of the year with 13 kills and 11 assists and Jessica Maas, who racked up 15 kills (season-high) and four digs. Sophomore setter Alyssa Holum came up with 44 assists and 14 digs to lead the Bulldogs. Appalachian State (5-10, 1-0) was led by sophomore Kelly Rhein who collected 19 kills and three digs for the Mountaineers. Setter Kasey Sauls added 48 assists and 12 digs.
The Bulldogs return to action next on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. when they travel across town to take on the College of Charleston.
