Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel tennis team (3-8, 1-2 SoCon) will host the Charlotte 49ers on Friday, March 19 at 2 p.m. and on Sunday, March 21, SoCon foe Elon will come to the Earle Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers hold a 4-9 record with Jesse Hutchinson guiding Charlotte with a 7-5 singles record. In doubles, Hutchinson pairs up with Mortiz Bernhoerster for a 4-3 record. The 49ers lead the all-time series against The Citadel, 9-1. The last meeting between the Bulldogs and the 49ers was in Charlotte in 2009. The 49ers defeated The Citadel, 5-2.
Scouting Elon
The Phoenix have a current record of 4-9, 3-0 SoCon. Elon is undefeated in conference play, winning against Chattanooga, Samford and Georgia Southern. Leading the Phoenix in singles is Chase Helpingstine who has an 8-5 record. He teams up with Alberto Rojas for a 5-3 record in doubles. Elon leads the all-time series against The Citadel, 6-1. The Phoenix defeated the Bulldogs in 2009, 7-0.
The Last Swing
The Citadel is on a two-match winning streak. The Bulldogs claimed a 4-3 SoCon victory over Georgia Southern on March 14 and then turned around and defeated the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 5-2, on March 15.
