Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel tennis team (1-4) begins Southern Conference action when they host UNC Greensboro on Tuesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel's campus. This match is sponsored by Dr. and Mrs. James Craigie.
Scouting the Spartans
UNC Greensboro is 7-2, 1-0 SoCon. The Spartans defeated Chattanooga, 5-2, in opening conference play on March 5. Leading the Spartans this season is Orcun Seyrek and Timion Meijs. Both own a 7-1, 1-0 SoCon singles record. In doubles, Seyrek pairs up with Arsel Kumdereli for a 6-2, 1-0 SoCon record.
The Citadel vs. UNC Greensboro
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 5-4. The last time The Citadel and the Spartans met was in 2009 in Greensboro, N.C. The Bulldogs lost, 5-2, with Alberto Diaz and Derek Dickey earning the two points for The Citadel.
The Last Swing
The Bulldogs earned their first win of the season when they defeated Case Western Reserve on Monday. The Citadel won the doubles point and Yufo Sutantio, Alberto Diaz, Josh Cook, David Orces, Derek Dickey and Luis Morett all tallied wins in singles.
