Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Football wrapped up their second week of spring football practice on Saturday at the Maybank Triplets Practice Facility.
The Bulldogs, in full pads, participated in a two-hour session which included short yard and goal line packages on both sides of the ball, as well as scrimmaging for 10 short yardage and eight goal line plays. There was also work on punt return and block techniques.
"Saturday's practice was very productive," said Bulldog Head Coach Kevin Higgins. "The offense had its most success during the short yardage session. We also had a full team scrimmage which was dominated by the defense. Rod Harland and Joseph Boateng are having excellent springs. Players seem to be on a mission as they practice each day."
Higgins added that it has been great to see several recruits showing up to watch practice. Saturday's practice was also the last for Bulldog Recruiting Coordinator Ryan Hearn who recently accepted a new position in Ocala, Fla.
"We are very excited for Ryan Hearn and his acceptance of the head football job at Westport High School. Westport has pursued him for several months and I am confident he will make an impact not only in the school but the community as well," said Higgins. "The Citadel family wishes Ryan the best in this opportunity."
The Bulldogs will take the remainder of the weekend and Monday off and will resume practice Tuesday for the third week of spring practice. The spring season will wrap-up with the Blue and White Spring Game on Saturday, March 27 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
