As The Military College of South Carolina, The Citadel’s mission is to educate and develop principled leaders and citizen-soldiers, prepared to serve their state and nation, and to lead with integrity by instilling the core values of Honor, Duty, and Respect in a disciplined and intellectually challenging environment. The Citadel’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to the aims and objectives of the Southern Conference and the National Collegiate Athletics Association and to the Core Values of The Citadel.

The Citadel is ever mindful of the safety and welfare of its student athletes and it committed to offering a balanced program covering a broad spectrum of sports and supporting the program to enable its representatives to be competitive in every aspect. The Citadel will compete as a Division I institution in all sports, and at the Football Championship Series (FCS), formerly Division I-AA, level in football, under current NCAA and Southern Conference regulations. The athletics program will be conducted with the aims, standards and objectives of The Citadel as a comprehensive college offering academic programs of recognized excellence supported by the best features of a structured military environment.
