Jacob Lehr, CGC ‘23, joined The Citadel Athletic Department in August 2021 as a Graduate Assistant with the wrestling program where he helped the team to two consecutive winning seasons before making the move into administration. He currently serves as the Assistant Director for Athletic Programs in the Student Success Center.
Prior to The Citadel, Jacob held various positions in professional baseball with the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, and MLB Network. He also helped coach Creekview HS (GA) wrestling to a state runner-up finish in 2021, including an individual state champion and four student-athletes who went on to compete in collegiate athletics.
Jacob is a 2023 graduate of The Citadel Graduate College, earning a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Prior to coming to Charleston, the upstate New York native was a 2020 graduate of Cornell University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations and was a varsity Letter Winner in wrestling. During his time at Cornell, the wrestling team won three Ivy League titles and was ranked top-10 in the country all four years.
Aside from The Citadel, Jacob serves on the Board of Directors for multiple nonprofits that seek to promote amateur wrestling in South Carolina. He is the President of the Charleston Regional Training Center and 16U Director for South Carolina USA Wrestling.
