Jason Simmons Jr. joined The Citadel football coaching staff in Spring 2024, initially serving as a Defensive Assistant for the Bulldogs. Entering Spring 2025, Simmons Jr. secured the open Assistant Coach position coordinating safeties.
A three-year starter for Syracuse and one-year contributor at New Mexico State, Simmons Jr. concluded his career with 47 appearances, 35 starts, 189 total tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, a recovered fumble, four interceptions, one touchdown and 17 pass break-ups between both programs.
A graduate of Syracuse, Simmons Jr. received his degree in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. Additionally, he notably has strong family connections in professional football with his father, Jason Simmons, currently serving as the Defensive Pass Game Coordinator for the Washington Commanders.
