Bulldog Track and Field Completes Action at Florida Relays

Gainesville, Fla. – Micah Wessinger broke her own school record in the 800, while the women's 4x200 team shattered the school mark by over one second as The Citadel track and field teams closed out the weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla.

Wessinger, who broke her own indoor 800 record back in February, improved her top-ranked outdoor mark with a time of 2:11.42 to take 25th place in the event. Only the top 48 registered athletes compete in the open events.

The women's relay teams continued their impressive season as the 4x200 team of Wessinger, Chalita Johnson, Tanisha Bethel and Danielle Williams moved to the top of the school's record book with a time of 1:41.45.

A similar 4x100 team of Johnson, Bethel, Williams and Nicole Levermann, ran their second fastest time of the season, clocking in at 48.37. The speedy quartet broke the school record in the event earlier this season.

On the men's side, the 4x800 team of John Gatewood, Jordan Ashley, Jordan Johnson and Greg Coggins posted a time of 7:46.17 to improve on their time from earlier this season. The mark is good for third place in The Citadel's record book.

The men's 4x100 team of Gus Vazquez-Milan, Tevin Williams, Cody Richardson and Jamaal Brantley also posted a season best time of 42.19, while first-year javelin thrower, Capers Williamson, recorded a heave of 184'5".

The Citadel will head to Rock Hill, S.C., next weekend for the Carolina Cup, before heading to Statesboro, Ga., on April 20-21 for the 2013 Outdoor Southern Conference Championship.
