Jamaal Brantley Named SoCon Track Athlete of the Week

Spartanburg, S.C. – Senior Jamaal Brantley was named Southern Conference track athlete of the week after his impressive performance at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational in Annapolis, Md.

Brantley ran a personal best and earned a first place finish in the 60 meter finals, clocking in at 6.85. Brantley's time fell just short of the school record of 6.84 and moved him into second all-time in program history. He also finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.33.

Brantley finished in fifth place in the 60 meter finals with a time of 6.94 at the 2013 indoor championship

Head Coach Jody Huddleston was proud of Brantley's performance in the season opening meet.

"Jamaal ran a great race. To miss the school record by .01 was pretty special," said Huddleston. "He has worked very hard this offseason and is looking forward to the Clemson meet and another chance to go for the record."

The Bulldogs will head to Clemson for the Tiger Paw Invitational on Saturday.
