Matt Frisch capped off the Virginia Duals on Saturday evening with a team-best four wins.
Joining Frisch among multiple dual winners were
Joaquin Marquez (125 lbs., three wins),
Aaron Walker (157 lbs., two) and
Marshall Haas (197 lbs., two).
Frisch opened the two-day event at the Hampton Coliseum with a 7-4 decision over B.J. Clagon (Rider). That was followed by an 8-3 decision against Virginia's T.J. Miller.
Frisch ran his win streak to three when he downed Michael Depalma (Kent State) by a 7-4 decision. He then captured his final victory at the Virginia Duals with a win by fall at the 4:26 mark over Destin McCauley (Nebraska-Kearney).
The Bulldogs also got a solid all-around performance from
Joaquin Marquez, who posted three wins on the weekend. Marquez started with a 12-6 decision against Rider's Gerald Wert before suffering his only setback, a 5-2 decision, against Nick Hermann (Virginia).
The senior rebounded with a 6-1 decision over Edilberto Vinas (Kent State) and wrapped up the event with an 11-1 major victory against Connor Bolling (Nebraska-Kearney).
Walker's first victory of the event for The Citadel came in a 4-1 decision against Kent State's Nathan Valentine. He quickly followed that with a 12-1 major decision over Chase White (Nebraska-Kearney).
Haas posted two wins in the 197 classification for the Dogs after he opened with a win by fall against Ali Yildiz (Rider) at the 4:47 mark. After a pair of losses by decision to Zach Nye (Virginia) and Cole Baxter (Kent State), both by 3-0 marks, Haas regained his winning form with a 6-2 decision against Romero Cotton (Nebraska-Kearney).
The Citadel returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 14, when it hosts Southern Conference rival Gardner-Webb at McAlister Field House at 7 p.m.
