The Citadel Falls To No. 3 TCU

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team was defeated by third-ranked TCU on Saturday inside the Inouye Marksmanship Center.

"Our guys shot well today," head coach William Smith said. "TCU is a very good team made up of consistent shooters. We had many of our parents here today, and we will continue to get better throughout the season."

TCU scored 2,316 in small bore and 2,362 in air rifle for a final team score of 4,678. The Citadel totaled 4,382 courtesy of 2,151 in small bore and 2,231 in air rifle.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Morgan Long, who posted team-high scores of 559 and 576 in small bore and air rifle, respectively. Junior Richie Parra was second in air rifle with his score of 563, and he had the team's third-highest small bore score of 529.

Junior team captain Patrick Meyer scored 541 in small bore and 544 in air rifle. Sophomore Christian Romero posted a score of 548 in air rifle and scored 522 in small bore, while freshman Tommy Simrill scored 541 in air rifle and 515 in small bore.

The Citadel returns to action Oct. 31 when it hosts the third Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season.
