CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team won the second Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season Saturday in Milledgeville, Georgia.
"Both teams shot good enough to win," head coach
William Smith said. "It was nice to get the win, but our scores need to continue to come up."
The Citadel men's shooters scored 2,111 in small bore and 2,250 in air rifle for a combined score of 4,361 to take top honors. The women's group scored 2,061 in small bore and 2,201 in air rifle for a 4,262 aggregate and fourth-place overall finish.
Sophomore
Colton Poole led the Bulldogs on both guns, posting a score of 536 in small bore and 567 in air rifle. Fellow sophomore
Morgan Long matched him with a 567 in air rifle and posted a 522 in small bore. Senior
Charles Yeh Jr., scored 565 in air rifle and 533 in small bore.
Freshman Allison Auten, shooting in her first collegiate competition, led the women's team with her score of 533 in small bore, with senior
Jennifer Burch posting the team's second-best score of 524. Burch led the team in air rifle at 562 followed closely by Auten's 558. Senior team captain
Amber Mills scored 542 in air rifle and 505 in small bore.
Junior team captain Patrick Mills scored 520 in small bore, and senior
Michael Chen scored 538 in air rifle. Freshman Tommy Simrill scored 551 in air rifle and 518 in small bore. Senior
Haley Osmer shot 539 in air rifle and 499 in small bore, with fellow senior
Fallon Weaver posting scores of 519 and 498.
The Bulldogs host their first home competition of the season Oct. 11 in a dual against TCU.
