Dogs Square Off Against No. 25 Tar Heels

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team completes the 2014-15 regular season slate on Sunday at North Carolina when the two teams clash inside the Eddie Smith Field House at 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (7-5, 5-2 Southern Conference) recently garnered eight wins, including three by major decision, to close out the home slate with a dominating 36-9 victory over Southern Conference foe Davidson on Wednesday evening at McAlister Field House.

Among the three wins by major decision included a 9-1 win in the 141 classification match between Tyler Buckiso and the Wildcats' Dustin Runzo.

Later in the match, The Citadel posted an 8-0 major decision victory by Jared Hemmings in the 184 match with Ryan Devlin.

The final team points of the night were tallied by Joe Bexley, who posted a 10-1 major decision over Ed Isola in the heavyweight battle.

The No. 25 ranked Tar Heels suffered a recent setback at the hands of No. 9 Virginia Tech on Friday. Despite big upsets by Tar Heel wrestlers Troy Heilmann and Christian Barber, the Hokies defeated North Carolina, 21-12.

With the loss, North Carolina (10-5, 2-3 ACC) dropped their second dual meet out of their last ten matches, while Virginia Tech secured a perfect ACC record for the year.
