MANHEIM, Pa. -- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the organization's NCAA Division I Scholar All-America awards Wednesday afternoon, recognizing three The Citadel cadet-athletes -- redshirt juniors Carson DesRosier and Thomas Snipes along with freshman Teegan Vasquez -- to the acclaimed honor roll. The three Bulldogs join 387 fellow student-athletes from 72 peer DI institutions.

"These student-athletes have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom," NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer said. "We commend their dedication and the example they set for the sport."

DesRosier majors in Physical Education and Vasquez is tackling Exercise Science while Snipes is working on his MBA.

"We talk all the time about being successful in all areas of life in this program," interim head coach Luke Welch said. "Teegan, Carson and Thomas are three individuals who 'walk the walk' as you can see in their wrestling success and their success in the classroom. I'm proud of these guys doing their work in the classroom and earning the honor of Academic All-American."
