CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel golf team returns to the links this weekend when it heads to Kiawah Island to participate in the annual Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic hosted by crosstown rival College of Charleston.
The Bulldogs are one of five teams from the Palmetto State along with Charleston Southern, Presbyterian, USC Beaufort, USC Upstate and the host Cougars.
The three-day event will take place on both the Osprey Point (par 72, 5,964 yards) and Oak Point (par 72, 5,901 yards) courses at Kiawah Island Golf Resorts.
The Dogs are coming off a solid showing at the College of Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational on Feb. 16-17. Junior Eraina Manor fired an 18-over-164 and finished in a three-way for sixth to lead the Dogs to a third place finish. Manor's sixth career top 10 finish is the most of any Bulldog golfer.
The Citadel (337-343—680) finished four shots behind in-state foe USC Beaufort (340-336—676) and 16 shots off the pace of team champion Thomas University (328-336—664).
Manor opened the tournament with an 83 and improved on that total by two strokes on Tuesday as she finished the tournament alongside Andrea Lopez (Southeastern University) and Paige Hartman (St. Andrews University).
Freshman Cameron Little joined Manor among top finishers as she placed 10th with a 167 (87-80). Her second-day round of 80 was the best of any Bulldog on the King and Prince Golf Course.
Kellie Anderson (81-90—171) tied with Julchen Narwark (Loyola University-New Orleans) for 15th.
Renata Sucha (86-92—178, +34) and Laura Simpson (149-123—272, +128) completed the card for The Citadel.
