CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team fell to sixth-ranked Air Force on Sunday at the Inouye Marksmanship Center.
"The Air Force shooters recorded their season-high score to take the match," head coach
William Smith said. "We are still adjusting to being back, and our women's shooters are gaining on the men's shooters.
Allison Auten had a good day Sunday."
Air Force won Sunday's match with a score of 4,687, topping The Citadel co-ed's 4,375 and The Citadel women's 4,339. Saturday, the Falcons won a match that also included No. 11 Jacksonville State with 4,684 points. The Citadel co-ed team tied Jacksonville State for second place with 4,413 points, and the Bulldog women's team scored 4,334.

Jennifer Burch led the Bulldogs and finished eighth overall in air rifle with a season-best score of 567. Classmate
Haley Osmer placed ninth overall in small bore with a score of 545 and scored 551 in air rifle. Freshman
Allison Auten scored 560 in air rifle for 10th place and 540 for an 11th-place finish in small bore. Senior team captain
Amber Mills recorded a 555 in air rifle, and freshman
Shay Littlejohn made her collegiate debut with a 521 air rifle score.

Tommy Simrill topped the Bulldogs' male shooters with a season-high 564 in air rifle and recorded a season-high 531 in small bore. Sophomore
Colton Poole had The Citadel's highest small bore score and placed eighth overall with a season-best score of 559 points and scored 558 in air rifle. Fellow sophomore
Morgan Long recorded scores of 555 in air rifle and 544 in small bore, and freshman
Hunter Ferguson scored 544 in air rifle and 520 in small bore.
The Bulldogs stay at home to host the fifth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match of the season this week. Action gets underway Friday evening and continues throughout the day Saturday.
