CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team recorded six season-best scores Sunday during the fifth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference competition of the season.

Matthew Davenport performed well, and Jennifer Burch and Allison Auten had strong finishes," head coach
William Smith said. "We will practice this week on paper targets to prepare for our competition at Wofford where they score the old-fashioned way."
No. 10 North Carolina State took the team title with 4,650 points and was followed by 19th-ranked North Georgia's 4,559 total and No. 26 Georgia Southern's 4,443. The Citadel men's team claimed fourth place with 4,403 points ahead of the Bulldogs' co-ed team's total of 4,342 and Georgia Military College's 4,207.
Senior
Charles Yeh Jr. led the Bulldogs and placed 12th overall in small bore by posting a season-high score of 553 that bettered his previous season best by 10 points. Sophomores
Morgan Long and
Matthew Davenport each scored 563 in air rifle to tie for the best mark among The Citadel men's team. Fellow sophomore
Christian Romero recorded a season-high 558 in air rifle, a 10-point improvement from his previous best score, and tied his season-best small bore score of 522.
Freshman
Allison Auten led all Bulldog shooters and finished 20th overall in air rifle with 565 points, and her small bore score of 542 topped The Citadel's women's team. Seniors
Jennifer Burch and
Amber Mills finished right behind with scores of 564 and 563, respectively, as team captain Mills matched her season-high score. Fellow senior
Fallon Weaver also tied her season-high score of 546, and freshman
Shay Littlejohn recorded a season-high score of 531.
The Bulldogs are back in action next week, traveling to Spartanburg, South Carolina, for SEARC 6 hosted by Wofford.
