Bulldogs Fall To Flames

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Citadel tennis team fell 7-0 to Liberty on Sunday morning at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
"I give Liberty credit for a hard-fought win," head coach Chuck Kriese said. "We competed well and every match in singles was tough. However, our guys played as underdogs at big times, and that doesn't win in tennis. Even though our guys won six in a row before this trip, we are going to have to beat someone ranked to break out. We must be patient but keep doing the work. We are very, very close."
The Bulldogs and Flames played tight matches throughout the singles competition, with Nicholas Bradley at No. 2 singles and Roy Hobson at No. 5 pushing their matches to three sets. At No. 3 singles, Matthew Henson pushed his second set to a tiebreaker before falling. Freshman Michael Anzalone, who won both of his matches Saturday, played a close match but dropped the second set 5-7 in a bid to force a third and deciding set.
The Citadel makes its home debut Saturday when it hosts Appalachian State. The Bulldogs and Mountaineers are scheduled for a 2 p.m. first serve at the Earle Tennis Center.
