RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field squads wrapped up the regular season Wednesday at the University of North Florida's Twilight Invitational. The Bulldogs set several personal records during their final tune up before the Southern Conference Track & Field Championship next week.

Coming off a school-record-breaking performance in the javelin throw at the Holy City Relays, sophomore
Mady Riegel once again led the way for the Bulldogs. Riegel won the javelin competition Wednesday with a heave of 122 feet, 3.25 inches, seizing her second consecutive event title.

Freshman
Kameron Cass also had a solid day for the women's group of throwers. Cass set a pair of new personal records, starting with an eighth-place finish in the javelin throw, in which she reached 114 feet, 2 inches. Cass later threw 123 feet, 9 inches in the discus to take 10th overall. Additionally, junior
Kaitlyn Moore placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 37 feet, 5.5 inches.

For the men's throwers,
Derrick Freeland,
Amos Jackson,
Michael Fernandez,
Daniel Andrews and
Richard Bertrand finished 3rd through 7th, respectively, in the hammer throw. Jackson and Andrews grabbed new personal records with tosses of 150 feet, 3.5 inches and 144 feet, 6 inches. Freeland's top throw totaled 164 feet, 4 inches.

Other notable performances in field events came from
Mitchell Noel and
Dondray Copeland, who each posted new personal records. Noel placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 7.75 inches while Copeland leaped 45 feet, 7.25 inches in the triple jump.

Senior distance runners
Jessica DeWitte and
Caillian Colquitt highlighted the women's team's evening in the running competitions. Dewitte collected a third-place finish in the steeplechase, clocking an 11:49.15. That time was her fastest this season. Colquitt placed fourth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:33.45.

For the men, freshman
Stephan Kulick picked up some positive momentum heading into the postseason. Kulick ran a personal-best 1:54.92 to take 12th overall in the 800-meter event.

In sprints, junior
Malik Diggs ran a 15.43 in the 110 hurdles and freshman Josiah Johnson ran a 10.85 in the 100-meter dash. Both times were the second-best splits of the 2016 outdoor campaign for Diggs and Johnson. Johnson teamed up with
Devin Singleton,
Tevin Williams and
Tyler Jackson to end the meet under the lights with the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet placed fourth, clocking a 3:14.88.
