HAMPTON, Va. – The Citadel wrestling team fell 26-15 on Saturday against Kent State on the final day of the 37th Annual Virginia Duals.  Â
The Bulldogs started strong against the Golden Flashes with
Patrick Kearney in the 125-pound weight class and
Andrew Szalwinski in the 133-pound weight class. Kearney got an early pin against Kent State's Cory Simpson in 1 minute, 44 seconds. Kent State followed with a forfeit against Szalwinski, which gave the Bulldogs a 12-0 lead.
Aaron Walker from the 157-lb. bracket battled Kent State's Casey Sparkman and won with a 10-6 decision. Walker finished the tournament with a team-high three victories.
The Bulldogs will return to McAlister Field House on Jan. 21 to continue SoCon conference play against Gardner-Webb at 4 p.m.
