CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team heads to Reno, Nevada, on Sunday, Dec. 17 to compete in the 23rd Brute Reno Tournament of Champions. The tournament started in 1994 to bring together the best high school and college wrestlers to compete for individual and team awards in order to raise funds for youth sport programs.
Joining the Bulldogs (1-4) this weekend in Reno are 26 collegiate teams including No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Missouri, and No. 6 N.C. State. The Citadel most recently competed in the Hofstra Duals in Hempstead, New York, on Dec. 3 where the Bulldogs fell to both Hofstra 43-6 and Pennsylvania 35-10.

Ty Buckiso and junior
Sawyer Root each earned wins against the Pride and Quakers. Buckiso defeated Ryan Burkert by an 11-5 decision and won over Evan DeLuise with a 4-2 decision. Root earned a 6-1 decision over Nezar Haddad before defeating Robert Ng by a 2-0 decision.
