Former Basketball Standout Castillo Named to Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team

NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Former Citadel basketball standout Noy Castillo is one of 18 individuals who have been recognized by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the 2018 Silver Anniversary Team. The team is based on outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago and was released Tuesday morning.

The Hall of Fame recognized Chad Austin, Ryan Bond, Tyson Brit, Jim Cruse, Matthew Graves, Jeff Layden, Toby Madison, Kelsey Mucker, Chris Quinn, Scott Rolen, Randy Zachary and Sherron Wilkerson as the 1992 Indiana All-Stars.

Castillo, who played for The Citadel from 1993-1997, represents his high school, New Albany, as an honoree from one of the all-state teams from that year. He is joined by B.J. Flynn, Scott George, Jason Holmes, Pete Miller and Burt Paddock as additional honorees.

A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Bulldogs, Catillo is the 26th all-time leading scorer as he graduated with 1,086 points in 102 games (10.6 ppg) and 78 starts. When he graduated, he departed as the program's all-time leader in three-pointers made and was also ninth in three-point field goal percentage, 10th in free throw percentage, 10th in assists and third in minutes played. Today, he is fifth in three-pointers made (230) and 10th in minutes played.

A 1996 All-Southern Conference selection, Castillo was the second pick in the 1998 Philippine Basketball Association Draft. He enjoyed a 10-year career in the PBA, earning five league All-Star selections and was a member of the 2002 Philippine National Team.

Castillo graduated in 1993 from New Albany High School as the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,283 career points. He was an all-conference selection as both a junior and senior and earned UPI All-State third-team honors as a senior while also being named to the Louisville Courier-Journal and Bloomington Herald-Times All-State first teams. He was also a 1992 all-state honorable mention and a three-time Hoosier Hills All-Conference player.

As a senior, he averaged 20.9 points per contest after averaging 17.2 points per game as a junior. He led his team to a 79-18 record over his career, including four sectional championships and three conference championships. His 1993 team was the runner-up to eventual state champion Jeffersonville.

Since 2006, Castillo has served as the CEO and owner of Brand 40 Custom Team Uniforms and he has been an international project missionary since 2016. He is married with four children and the family currently resides in East Elmhurst, New York.

Eighteen men have been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2018 Silver Anniversary Team, based on outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago.

The team includes 12 members named to the 1993 Indiana All-Star squad.  Six other all-state players are included to recognize the top of Indiana's high school class of 1993.

1992 Indiana All-Stars include Chad Austin, Ryan Bond, Tyson Brit, Jim Cruse, Matthew Graves, Jeff Layden, Toby Madison, Kelsey Mucker, Chris Quinn, Scott Rolen, Randy Zachary and Sherron Wilkerson.

The remaining six, named to various all-state teams are: Noy Castillo, BJ Flynn, Scott George, Jason Holmes, Pete Miller and Burt Paddock.

All Men's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 57th Annual Men's Awards Banquet on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

A midday reception, free and open to the public, will be held at the Hall of Fame museum in New Castle.  The evening banquet will take place at the Primo Banquet Hall, which is located on the south side of Indianapolis.
