
Riegel Takes First Place on Day One

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams finished day one of the CSU Spring Break Invitational on Friday at the Bagwell-Settle Track in North Charleston, South Carolina.

For the women's team, junior Mady Riegel won first place in the javelin with a throw of 140 feet, 0 inches. Seniors Sarah Johnson and Emani Little will compete in the 400-meter race final after placing sixth and seventh in the prelims with times of 1 minute, 00.93 seconds and 1:00.97, respectively.

Sophomore Hannah Murray earned fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 7.5 inches to qualify for finals.

For the men's team, senior Malik Diggs earned first place in the 110-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 14.79 seconds to secure his spot in the finals Saturday. Diggs also took first in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.45 seconds to continue into the finals.

Junior Devin Singleton also earned first place in the 400-meter dash to continue into finals with a time of 50.08.

Sophomore Stephen Kulick finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.32 to carry him into the final. Sophomore Josiah Johnson earned fourth place and qualified for the final in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.93.

Day two of the invitational is scheduled to start 9 a.m. on Saturday. Full meet results will be available after the event concludes at CitadelSports.com.
