Volleyball Sweeps Chattanooga on the Road

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. - The Citadel volleyball picked up their third win in conference play against Chattanooga in Tennessee this Friday. This marks just the second time in program history that the Bulldogs have recorded three conference wins.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs took the first set from Chattanooga after being neck and neck the entire time. Sharlissa De Jesus tallied the final three kills to seal the victory for the Bulldogs. The Citadel took etched out the Mocs by a final score of 25-22.
- The Citadel would take set two after rallying back from being down 20-18 late in the match. Mellanie King tallied the winning kill for the Bulldogs. Sarah Dobrich would record six kills in the 29-27 victory.
- Chattanooga got off to a 15-7 start to begin the third set. Following a Citadel timeout, the Bulldogs would go on a run to bring the deficit to three. De Jesus and King would take control of the back and forth match, recording eight kills apiece to guide the Citadel to victory.
- De Jesus finished the match with a team-high 19 kills to go along with 11 digs, her fourth double-double on the year. King provided support on both sides of the ball tallying 13 kills and 19 digs.
- The Bulldogs recorded four team blocks and five service aces on the night.
- "We played very mature volleyball tonight and that enabled us to get out of a tough environment with a big win. I'm proud of the effort the team put in and we showed that we can bounce back from some tough losses in the conference. I'm excited that we have matched our program high in wins but we won't settle at three. We are eager to continue our success within the program."
- The Bulldogs will play Samford tomorrow at 8 p.m in Birmingham.
