CHARLESTON, S.C. - Despite a slow start, the Bulldogs finished strong at the JDL College Team Challenge. The team continued to break school records for indoor both in the field and on the track.

Samantha Engel finished 3rd in the vault setting another new PR of 10-10 to earn the second spot on the all-time list and second place at the JDL Challenge.

Amber Opp followed up by running a new PR in the 3000m with a time of 10:49.68 to take sixth in the meet and earn the number six spot on the all-time list.

Joie Royer also earned a fifth place spot on the all-time list after finishing the 400m with a time of 59.88.
Royer also earned the number five spot in the 200m with a time of 26.65.
Casey Miller took fourth with a PR time of 2:29.59 in the 800m.

Continuing with the theme of breaking records,
Tamia Burch ran a PR in the 60m with a time of 8.17 to earn the number seven spot all-time.

Derrick Freeland continued his winning ways by placing first in the weight with a toss of 58-8.5.
Amos Jackson took fifth place in the weight with a personal record toss of 49-11.5

Sam Blumer broke his PR in the vault to take first place with 14-5.25 and earn the number four spot on the all-time list.
Â
Lindsay Pierce placed second in the vault with 13-5.25, followed by
Luke Vettel who took 4th with a PR of 11-11.75.

In the 3000m,
Jamie Cunningham took third while setting a new PR of 8:50.79 to earn the nine spot on the all-time list.

"I think we got very solid performances out of the team, especially
Amber Opp,
Amos Jackson,
Jamie Cunningham,
Joie Royer and
Sam Blumer. While I feel we had several good performances we also struggled in a few events that we should be improving in," said head coach
Jody Huddleston.

The Bulldogs will have another week off to improve before heading back to Winston-Salem to compete in the UCS Invitational on Friday February 16 and Saturday February 17. Teams competing have not yet been announced.
