The Citadel Set to Host 2018 NCAA Rifle Championships

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel will host the 2018 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Rifle Championships this weekend, Thursday, March 8 through Saturday, March 10 at McAlister Field House.
Admission to the competition rounds Friday and Saturday will be $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, children and students with valid school IDs as set by the NCAA. Thursday's practices are open to the public and are free of charge.
The championships will be broadcast live on ncaa.com and will include live scoring updates.
The championships will feature the top eight teams in the nation: five-time defending national champion No. 1 West Virginia, No. 2 TCU, No. 3 Murray State, No. 4 Kentucky, No. 5 Alaska Fairbanks, No. 6 Air Force, No. 7 Ohio State and No. 8 Nebraska. Also competing are the top smallbore qualifiers from Navy, NC State, Memphis and UT Martin as well as the top air rifle qualifiers from Ole Miss, Memphis, Army West Point and Navy.
The weekend will begin Thursday, March 8 with two practice relays for air rifle and smallbore each. Note: All times listed are local. Practice relay No. 1 for air rifle will go from 8:45 to 10 a.m. with the second practice relay going from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Practice relay No. 1 for smallbore will last from 12:45 to 2 p.m. and the second smallbore practice relay will go from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m.
The smallbore portion will be held Friday, March 9 from 9:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Relay No. 1 will be called to the range at 9:45 a.m. with competition lasting from 10:15 a.m. until 12 p.m. Relay No. 2 will then be called to the range at 12:15 p.m. with competition going from 12:45 until 2:30 p.m.
The individual smallbore finals will begin with a call to the range at 3 p.m. Competition will begin at 3:30 and last until 4:30 p.m.
Air rifle will be contested Saturday, March 10 from 9:45 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. The first smallbore relay will be called to the range at 9:45 a.m. with competition beginning at 10:15 a.m. and lasting until 11:30 a.m. Relay No. 2 will be called to the range at 11:45 a.m. with competition lasting from 12:15 until 1:30 p.m.
The individual air rifle finals will begin with a call to the range at 2 p.m. Competition will begin at 2:30 p.m. and last until 3:45 p.m.
The overall team champion will be determined by the aggregate of each team's smallbore and air rifle scores.
