The Citadel Brigadier Foundation announced that
Russell Frierson '04 has been named the executive director of the organization. Frierson takes over on a full-time basis after serving as the interim director since the retirement of Rob Hoak '78 earlier this year.
Â
The search committee, composed of seven members of the Citadel Brigadier Foundation Board, conducted a search that spanned several months and reviewed nearly 40 candidates from across the country. Although several of the candidates had impressive credentials, the search committee ultimately decided it was best to stay with a proven candidate. That decision was overwhelmingly endorsed by the full Board during the July 13
th meeting.
Â
Frierson was selected not only due to his unmatched passion, drive and focus on athletic fundraising, but also because of his firm grasp of the unique Citadel culture and the great relationships we have with our donors and supporters.
Â
Frierson will continue to assist with athletic fundraising for the Citadel Foundation where he and that team have been extremely successful. In this new role, he will report to the Citadel Brigadier Foundation Board of Directors where he will direct the day-to-day operations of that organization, as well as focus on growing both memberships and athletic scholarship dollars.
Â
Frierson is a 2004 graduate of The Citadel and received his master's in social science from the college in 2007. He has been a development officer for athletics since 2014.
